I’ve noticed since the iOS 5 update that my iPad hasn’t kept as good of charge as of late. This posses a big problem for me as I’m a consultant and am on the go constantly. The improved battery life of the iPad over my previous Macbook was the primary reason I stopped using my laptop and went full-time with the iPad. At first, I thought it was because I continue to use it more and more each day and I still have the first version of the iPad. But still, it was working masterfully and keeping a beautifully charged icon until the update. It started to worry me so I did a bit of research and it looks like I’m not alone. Today Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook unveiled the new iPhone 4s. Against speculations of a new iPhone 5, the new iPhone 4S looks the same as the iPhone 4, but sports new guts and is a world phone. That’s right, GSM and CDMA in one phone. The new smartphone handset now has the dual core processor A5 chip. On stage, Mike Capps fro Epic Games, makers of Infinity Blade 2 showed off the power of the new chip. According to many in attendance, it was “awesome”.

In a perfect world, we’d all get a chance at the new iPhone 5 regardless of carrier. However, with such a powerful and elusive product, there’s always one bad apple in the barrel. BGR is reporting that a close source tipped them off to a deal between Sprint and Apple for exclusive rights to the iPhone 5. It’s backed up by the WSJ reporting that Sprint has entered into an agreement with Apple to purchase $20 billion (yes, $20 billion) worth of iPhones over the next four years and that it will be a 4G WiMAX device. iDevice case makers Hard Candy are already in the process of manufacturing 50k cases for a mysterious Apple device that three anonymous tipsters gave them specs for according to Cult of Mac.
Specs given to Hard Candy by the three tipsters are as follows:
- Large 4.44-inch screen.
- It is significantly bigger than the iPhone 4, but the case tapers, making it feel a lot thinner.
- Large, lozenge-shaped Home button (This is rumored to be integrated with new Assistant function, allowing tasks to be controlled by voice).
