I’m a HUGE photo fan to say the least. And yes, my iPhone 4 is abundant with apps such as Instagram, Hipstamatic, Snapbucket, Mosaiq Lite, Photo Editor, Color, Sneak A Peak and QuickPix. And now, I’m happy to report I’ve found another gem of an iPhone camera app called PhotoSplit. The developer says it lets you create photo collages easily and intuitively and I’d have to agree. However, it’s much more than that.
Yes, you can do mosaics, cool, but the real fun is when you start layering, stacking, lightening, darkening and blending. In fact, there are already quite a few photos on Flickr from the app. Definitely check them out.
Once you open PhotoSplit, you’re taken straight into the option to choose from a number of layouts including four squares, two squares, triangles and the layering option. Once you’ve selected your flavor, simply tap on the spot where you want your photo and either choose from your photo roll or tap the camera icon to start snapping. Rinse and repeat.
When you are layering, you’ll notice that you will actually see your last picture when you go to take another picture. It’s pretty trippy and an awesome feature.
After you’ve got your pictures in place and you like the way the look simply tap the next button in the upper right corner and you can then save to your photo album, share via email, Facebook, Flickr, Tumblr and of course Twitter. You can even copy the picture for use in other applications.
Composition is really easy as you can try the special camera modes to easily line up your shots either as individual photos or as part of the entire collage. If you want to make any adjustments, you can pan and zoom your photos to get the perfect layouts.
PhotoSplit, with its photogenic flare and awesome stacking option, makes this photo app an easy download… especially at $.99.
